Inclusive Curriculum Coalition Win!
The Inclusive Curriculum Bill (HB246) passed the Illinois General Assembly with a bipartisan Senate vote of 37-17 and is now headed to Governor Pritzker who has pledged his support! Illinois is now the 4th state to pass an Inclusive Curriculum Bill, after California, New Jersey, and Colorado.
We want to give a huge shoutout to our fearless coalition leader, Equality Illinois, for their persistence and inspiration in getting HB246 to the legislative floor. Thank you to the bill's sponsors, State Rep. Anna Moeller (43rd district) and State Sen. Heather Steans, and all of the legislative supporters who brought this from a bill to a law.
Finally, thank you to all ILEE members who took the time to contact their legislators, attended house meetings, and shared on their social media about the importance of LGBTQ inclusion in our schools' curriculum.
It's a great day to be an Illinoisan! Keep up your amazing work, ILEE members.

ECE Win!
In its March 7 Early Childhood Blast, CPS announced that families enrolling their children in pre-k programs this fall will be able to apply and enroll directly at their school sites! This is the ECE platform that ILEE members unanimously voted on back in August to make pre-k enrollment less cumbersome for families.
This is a HUGE win for parents and children throughout Chicago and will move the dial closer to equity!
We want to celebrate the ILEE members and partners across Chicago who fought for this win. We thank CPS for providing us with open avenues of communication over the past few months by having their staff attend our house meetings. We also thank ECE Chief Michael Abello for making the time to meet with our organizers.
We will continue to meet with CPS leaders and organize within communities to ensure that the office of ECE follows through with this stated commitment. Let us know if you would like to get involved in this effort!
